This poor puppy was brought to us today with an extremely wounded ear by the good Samaritan who found him.
Initially, we believed his wound was the result of a fight with another animal because of the long and deep scratch marks running down his back. Upon closer inspection, we found that the wound on his ear was from a shotgun. The wound was covered in maggots and was deeply infected. This poor little fellow, who we have named Bentley, was in tremendous pain and very frightened when we first met. Despite that, he was incredibly sweet and friendly. Dr. Crews sedated him, cleaned and treated his wounds, and removed the bullet fragments. We were told that he was very lucky to have survived this traumatic of an injury. In addition, Bentley is also being fully vetted and treated for Whipworms and Hookworms and will be neutered when he gains back some of his strength. . Bentley will need to be boarded at the veterinary office for a week or so, until we have an opening to bring him to the rescue. We do know that Bentley will need to heal both physically and emotionally before being put up for adoption.
Please find it in your heart to make a donation for his medical bills today and help us give Bentley a new start at a happy life. As an all volunteer rescue, we cannot do it alone, but together we can help Bentley achieve the life he deserves.
