is now

To better serve our animal-loving community as we move into the future, we plan to expand our offering. And in the process, we thought a name change was in order is now

"Cuddly" is how we feel about animals and it's how animals make us feel. That being said, while there are many upcoming changes, our mission remains the same. We aim to help animals around the world live better lives through innovation, community, and kindness. Thank you for being a part of our movement and, now, the family.

Tumor Removal and Senior Care

  • Name: Wren and Wiley
  • Size: Medium
  • Age: Senior

$2,730.00 raised of $2,000.00

Wren and Wiley need immediate surgery and Almost Home can never turn away a precious life, especially those straight from Death Row.

We were introduced online to Wiley and Wren, who were shaking and crying in the corners of their cold cages. They were senior Chihuahua mixes that nobody wanted, and they were scheduled to be euthanized. A volunteer showed us the post and asked if we would be willing to help these two. We reached out to save these two innocent lives all the way across the country to the state of California. Both dogs had to have pull fees in order to get them out of the high-kill shelter that cost $80.00 each, health certificates that were $50.00 each, transport costs, shots and neuter, gas mileage for people in California to get them out, along with paying their fosters for food, crates, collars/leashes, and boarding fees. All of this added up to over $500, which Almost Home does not have.
We were so excited to finally meet these boys that had arrived from California. However, we were shocked and devastated to find out that after spending over $500 just to bring them here, both Wiley and Wren now needed emergency medical surgery for mass removal. We were not told by their previous shelter that Wren had masses all over his frail body, which may be fatty tumors, and Wiley had a large mass under his chin as well. Both boys need to be seen and evaluated at the vet and go through surgery.

Exam fees and biopsies cost a lot of money and Almost Home does not have the means to cover them right now. We just do not have the funds to get these procedures, as no money has come in. The vets cannot see the dogs until we show them that we have the funds to cover the surgery.

These two boys are as sweet as can be and deserve to be treated at the vet. Due to renovations currently being done at our building and our inability to take in physical donations, we have had no money coming in. Also, we are still taking in sick animals from Animal control during this construction period and we are financially in debt.

We are begging for your help with paying our medical expenses. Almost Home is a 501 (c) 3 and we receive no government or city funding. We are one of the few true Never-Kill animal shelters in Michigan.

Seniors deserve love, commitment and life too. Can you please find it in your heart to help Almost Home with getting Wren and Wiley the surgeries they need to save their lives or sending them an item from their wishlist to make them as comfortable as possible on their path to recovery.

  • MEET SWEET WILEY!

Hi Friends! I am so lucky and happy to have been saved. I am a 7-year old Chi mix. I was rescued by a volunteer who couldn't let me die at a high kill shelter, and flew me from a far distance. I do great with dogs and possibly cats too. I am a very friendly guy who is an owner surrender. I am hoping to find a wonderful family to give me the love I deserve and spoil me like no other! Please find it in your heart to provide that forever home for me. I promise to love you unconditionally! XO

“Wiley is very laid back. He walks slowly on the leash but likes his walks. He is potty trained. He sleeps on the bed with me. He does like to be by the other dogs a lot. He will sit close to me while watching TV. He is very good while riding in cars (I would say due to the long journey they had on transport)”.

I am currently located in a loving foster home please fill out an application if you're interested in meeting me!

Here are some things about me my foster mommy had to say about me!

“As you can see Wren doesn't mind as much getting his picture taken. He is potty trained and will let you know when he has to go potty badly. He will paw at you until he is let out. He does know sit. He walks very well on the leash. He LOVE'S to sleep in the bed with me along with my other dogs. He likes to snuggle by you while watching TV or sit and look out my window. He really enjoys his daily walks. Wren walks so good on the leash he doesn't pull on all on the leash”.
