We rescued Otto as a puppy from the OC Shelter and it was immediately determined that he had Hydrocephalus/fluid accumulation in the brain.
It sounds scary, but it really isn't and this boy is just like any other 1-year-old, only he's very special!
We found a pediatric neurosurgeon who helped save Otto's life by putting a shunt in his brain, which drains any excess fluid into his abdomen. Otto is ridiculously sweet, doesn't have a mean bone in his body, gets along with other dogs (large & small), lives with cats, and adores people. He is special in that the Hydrocephalus has affected his sight and causes some behaviors like occasional circling, but he gets around fine and doesn't know that he isn't "normal."
Otto has some special needs due to the shunt. One is Otto is mostly blind, but can see shadows. Another is he needs to use a harness to take walks as he can't have anything around his neck. He will need a patient owner to help train him in a way he understands. Otto loves to play with toys and is very affectionate. He is a loving boy who deserves to find a home who will understand and work with his special needs.
This special boy has cost us about $30,000 for all of his medical needs and we could really use some help with his medical bills. Please support Otto by donating to his medical fund or sending him a gift off his Wishlist!
