is now

To better serve our animal-loving community as we move into the future, we plan to expand our offering. And in the process, we thought a name change was in order is now

"Cuddly" is how we feel about animals and it's how animals make us feel. That being said, while there are many upcoming changes, our mission remains the same. We aim to help animals around the world live better lives through innovation, community, and kindness. Thank you for being a part of our movement and, now, the family.

Blood Transfusions Due To Tick Infestation

  • Breed: Labrador Retriever
  • Name: Bernie
  • Color: Black
  • Size: Medium
  • Sex: Male
  • Age: Baby

Bernie's owners surrendered him completely covered in fleas and ticks. His rescue had to rush him to the ER because he was so weak and anemic. Bernie is so sweet, but obviously very scared. His PAC cell levels were a 6 and need to receive a blood transfusion and a plasma transfusion. However, he had a negative reaction to the blood transfusion and started urinating blood, which is due to his blood not clotting. The vets believed it might be tick related or that he may have gotten into rat poison. Luckily his PAC came back up to a 9 but still needs to be much higher. He will be getting another plasma transfusion shortly and they have been removing the ticks.

Dallas Dogs RRR is making sure Bernie is receiving the best medical attention possible. They want to get him strong and healthy, so they can help him find a furever home when he is ready.

Please consider making a donation towards Bernie's medical care. He also has a wishlist registry, so you can also send him a gift to brighten his day; he will be able to take all of his gifts with him when he gets adopted. You can help him with flea and tick treatments for his future health, which is also listed on his registry. Thank you in advance for your support!

  • Please keep sending well wishes and prayers for our sweet sick boy.

Bernie is so sweet but obviously very scared. He is slowly starting to recover. He received a blood transfusion and a plasma transfusion but had a negative reaction to the blood transfusion and started urinating blood. He will be getting another plasma transfusion shortly and they have been removing the ticks.

He is weak and VERY ANEMIC as you can imagine!  His PAC cells level was 6, he began peeing blood, this is due to his blood not clotting. They think it might be tick related or that he also might have gotten into Rat Poison. His PAC came back up to a 9 but still needs to be much higher.

We will continue to monitor him closely. Please help and support Bernie.
