Zoe was found trapped in a ravine in the Houston area. She had been there for more than 10 days, was severely emaciated, dehydrated & had recently had a litter of puppies. She had to be trapped & darted because of her emotional state. We took her to the vet for immediate medical care & she was kept for observation & intravenous fluids. We went back to look for her puppies but were never able to find them & judging from her reaction, something very traumatic must have happened because of the level of stress she was experiencing. She suffered an infection from the dart site, stress colitis, UTI, URI, tested heart worm positive on top of grieving for her babies. Zoe is around 3 years old & has been through so much in her young life & is still having issues with anxiety that is bad enough that she has to take medication daily just to cope with day to day life. She’s come a long way & is now healthy enough to start her heart worm treatment & will be able to be spayed once she tests negative. She will also be ready for her forever home & family although she would do better in a home without older children because while she was trapped, she was abused by the older children who decided to make her life a living hell by throwing rocks at her, striking her many times. After all she’s been through, she still tries to trust everyone she meets & gives unconditional love once she does.
