13 Puppies were found alone in the desert, along with 3 other adult dogs.
We were able to catch all of the dogs and puppies, and place them with our fosters. Since the first day we took the puppies in, they showed symptoms of Mange. The first vet ran skin scrape, fungal and ringworm testing. All results came back negative. Nevertheless, we were prescribed Mange medication, medicated shampoos, wipes and creams for all 13 puppies, and we have even tried allergy shots and steroid shots. Their symptoms seemed to worsen, so we sought a second opinion. The diagnosis and treatments were the same. A few weeks passed and their symptoms worsened once again. Overall, we have sought the advice of 6 different veterinarians, one even being a vet dermatologist specialist. We were all baffled as to what could be the cause of such severe itching, burning, flaking, redness and inflammation. We even suspected food allergies. We have spent over $1,500 in just vet visits for all 13 puppies as well as several hundreds of dollars more for continued medications, shampoos, creams, treatments and grain free food.
One veterinarian finally suggested we try Nexgard for scabies, along with grain free food, shampoo treatments daily, coconut oil on their skin and food and limited outdoor exposure. This is what we are currently working on with these pups, and so far, they are itching less and their hot spots are starting to heal.
We desperately need your help. We have taken on a few medical cases in our rescue and our funds are depleted. We are also in urgent need of supplies for the puppies, especially shampoo, puppy pads (since they aren't allowed outdoors until healed), and premium grain free food that sadly, we cannot afford. We cannot do it without your support. Please consider donating to the pups or sending them an item from their wishlist to make sure they are happy and comfortable. We, along with the puppies, thank you.
