It wasn’t enough that Lia’s body was destroyed by infection and starvation, the heartless humans responsible for her then went a step further by hurling her from the car before driving off.

For days, Lia, a frightened and tormented Shar Pei wandered the streets after her “family” tossed him from the car and left her on the streets. Fortunately, our rescue happened to be passing through a town to help another dog in need when our boots-on-the-ground rescuer watched locals try to catch this girl who was in awful health condition. After eluding rescuers for a while, she was finally brought to our rescue with raw skin, hunger pains, and a broken heart. But despite the pain of her past, we are happy knowing that she is safe and finally receiving the basic necessities for her scabies and malnourishment.

Miss Lia is looking better!

Our Peruvian princess is finally allowing her rescuer to show her some TLC. She built trust slowly and it’s paying off! Each day Lia is making progress with her health. The antibiotic treatment cleared up her eyes and her skin infection is making progress also. Emotionally Lia is gaining confidence. Her appetite is great and she looks forward to her feedings. Slow and steady prevailed and a bond of trust developed with time and patience.

While passing thru a town to help another dog in need, our boots-on-the-ground rescuer watched locals try to catch this female Sharpei who is in awful health condition. She had eluded them days until now. Now named Lia, she is frightened and painful. Her skin is raw. She is hungry and sad. But she is safe now and receiving basic care but needs supplies-Scabies medication, food, a bed is vet consult. Please, NAFAF is currently helping so many dire medical cases and we are spread thin but cannot turn our backs on our rescuer and Lia. Can you spare and share to help Lia? Near And Far Animal Rescuers have outstanding medical expenses for just Lia alone and need any help they can get. UPDATE ON LIA🚨 🙏Lia’s eyes have been weeping and have discharge. Her immune system is low from her severe skin infections. She has been given antibiotics also. We are worried for poor Lia. 🙏Although she has a good appetite, she is still suspicious and will not allow handling yet. But slow and steady will prevail and a bond of trust will develop with time and patience. While passing thru a town to help another dog in need, our boots on the ground rescuer watched locals try to catch this female Sharpei who is in awful health condition.
