Rooster will undergo a dental procedure shortly to address his rotted teeth. Likely, many teeth will need to be removed. We will continue to manage his cough, and are hoping it will improve with reduced stress and better diet. His matted fur has been removed, and he is so much more comfortable now. Please help us give Rooster a second chance by donating any items from his wishlist, or towards covering the cost of his treatment. Thank you so much for supporting Rooster!

10-year-old yorkie Rooster was found living on the street, suffering from severe dental pain, extremely uncomfortable matting, and an aggressive cough. This sweet senior boy, clearly the victim of horrendous neglect, deserves a chance to finally be properly cared for in his golden years.
At 10 years old, Rooster should be living out his golden years in the comfort of a loving home, receiving endless cuddles and belly rubs. Instead, Rooster was found as a stray wandering around the Tampa area confused and in terrible physical condition. We have no idea how long this sweet boy endured life on the streets. It is possible that his family discarded him only recently due to the care he now needed in his old age. In any case, it is clear that Rooster was severely neglected, either by the people who passed by him in the street and did nothing to help him, or by a family who allowed him to live in this condition for far too long.
Rooster's coat was extremely matted and almost all of his teeth were completely rotten. Rooster also has minor luxating patellas in both knees, a condition that his breed is genetically predisposed to. Rooster was displaying signs of kennel cough, so we began treatment right away, but his condition didn’t improve. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Rooster’s symptoms were actually caused by a collapsed trachea, which is also common in yorkies due to genetic factors. The main symptom of collapsed trachea is a cough, but this can be managed through various methods such as lifestyle changes and medication.
