He may be little and he might look a little different, but this resilient boy has shown us that above all else, he is MIGHTY. However, Lion needs your help more than ever. Unfortunately, he has already run into unexpected medical challenges, which will likely continue as his rescuers learn more information about his condition. He will need surgeries for both front legs, and he is scheduled to see an orthopedic specialist next week to see what can be done to give him the best quality of life.
With his whole life ahead of him, YOU can help get this little guy to where he needs to go! Lion will need a nice comfy bed to decompress on, as well as lots of pee-pads to help his foster mama with the clean-up! He will also need yummy high-calorie puppy food to help him get big and strong for his future surgeries, as well as some fun toys to entertain him throughout recovery. Please keep Lion in your thoughts as he continues his long journey to recovery. If you are able to assist with his care, please consider donating to this fundraiser or sending him a much-needed item off his wishlist below. Thank you for your kindness and support!

In the wake of such daunting and uncertain times – when many of us are coming together to cherishing and valuing our lives – it breaks our hearts to know that there are still some lives being treated like garbage. Bred in a state that bans pit bulls and companion breeds, Lion was born with severe deformities to his front legs – with the right leg being the worst. Unable to make a profit, this little baby was heartlessly DISCARDED in a dumpster, at just 6 weeks old.
Fortunately, a Good Samaritan found Lion just in time and was able to call animal control, who released this sweet boy to Key to Lion's Heart as a rescue, for both medical and breed restriction reasons. Since his rescue, he has been decompressing and learning how to ‘dog' from his medical-needs foster bother, Ham - who is quickly showing him the ropes. He has adapted to using his front right elbow to hobble around, it is unknown how long he will be able to use it as he continues to grow. However, Lion does not let his deformity slow him down, and as you can see – he truly does have the heart of a lion.
