For now, this little guy is doing better than expect. He is eating and drinking. Despite having a raging infection, hookworms and Giardia, he has a voracious appetite. Pip is extremely anemic and needs a special diet to recover. He wheezes when he breathes and bubbles come out of his tiny little nostrils when he drinks water, but he is still very much full of life.
Pip is about 4 months old and a Cattle Dog mix. We immediately went to Dr. Huddleston at Westheimer Animal Clinic Bellaire this and started Pip on vaccines, B12 injections, distemper serum, bloodwork and antibiotics. Pip will need reconstructive surgery to fix his snout, but this will be difficult due to the lack of tissue around his mouth. Dr. Huddleston has sent Pip's case off to Texas A&M to consult with specialists to see what can be done to help this little guy.
I know this is a scary and unsettling time for many people, but the animal crisis in Texas has not slowed down one bit. Dogs like Pip still need our help, and we simply can't turn a blind eye to those in need. We would love to get Pip in with an experience medical foster as soon as possible. We will also need help with Pip's medical costs. Today's visit was $317, but we will also raise money for his future vet costs. If you are able to help, we would so appreciate it! Pip has a long road ahead of him to get healthy.

This little pup was an owner surrender from a rural area in Texas, who was living with multiple dogs on a property. During feeding time, he was attacked by a pack of dogs and never went to the vet for his injuries. He was picked up and networked by a Good Samaritan, knowing he would need intensive vet care to survive.
Pip's nose and snout are completely missing, as well as his front teeth. Only his canines remain, which are crooked and may need to be removed. Pip is also missing his left ear, which is entirely healed, and must have happened at least a month ago or longer.
