We want to express our deepest appreciation to all those who have supported us, and continue to do so. We are asking for additional support to help us get through the next few months, when hopefully Thailand has opened up enough for our support to return to where it was. Any donation, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated.

The Hope for Strays Foundation has operated as a registered non-profit Foundation in Thailand since 2016. The founders had been helping dogs on the street for many years before that. Our priorities have remained the same throughout our time of operation:
• Humane reduction of the stray dog population through sterilization
• Provide medical care as required for dogs on the street
• Make every effort to have dog under our care adopted into safe and happy homes
• Provide a safe haven for dogs who will not be able to survive on the streets
• Vaccinate as many dogs as possible for canine diseases including rabies (which still exists in Thailand)
We currently have almost 250 dogs in our shelters. These dogs were taken is because they could not survive on the streets. Most were abandoned or threatened puppies. We provide them with a clean and safe home.
Unfortunately, all of these activities cost money. We depend entirely on the generosity of our followers to pay our monthly bills. We spend, on average, US$5,500/month to provide our services. Due to the financial hardships and uncertainty caused by COVID-19 we have seen a 50% drop in donations in 2020, compared to the 4th quarter of 2019.
One area that has really hurt us is the lack of tourists. Pattaya is primarily a tourist city with several million visitors to the area every year. Thailand has been locked down with no foreigners allowed into the country for several months, which has had a huge impact on our area for which an estimated 80% of income is from tourists. The reduced number of tourists has greatly reduced the number of visitors and volunteers we have had at the shelter. This has impacted donations and required additional costs for staff to do the work the volunteers were doing.
We have not slowed down in our care for the strays in our area, but the shortfall in donations is having to come from the founder's personal savings, which cannot be sustained.

We are asking for additional support to help us get through the next few months, when hopefully Thailand has opened up enough for our support to return to where it was.
