Nixie arrived in rescuers care shaking from being so malnourished and cold. But, in all their years, rescuers have never seen an animal with such severely affected limbs. Finally, after getting Nixie warmed up on a heating pad, rescuers were able to urgently transport her to the vet. Doctors discovered that Nixies affected limbs were not because of a congenital birth defect, but were all trauma based. More than likely the umbilical cord wrapped around her waist and legs, resulting in bad circulation, and eventually mama tried to correct the issue, but accidentally chewed off one leg and broke the other resulting in an L-shaped limb. They do not know at this time if it has caused any internal issues, but the vet suspects she may be incontinent. As for her front leg, she has septic arthritis which may be able to be saved. Nixie, may need an orthopedic specialist futher down the road, but for now....with her being in critical condition, their only goal is to help her survive and thrive.
Rescuers are going to do everything in their power to give Nixie a fighting chance, but please consider donating toward her medical care or sending her a very much-needed item from her wishlist. This little one is with her foster receiving around-the-clock care, and she can use all the love and support she can get. Thank you in advance and we will keep you all updated on Nixie's progress! We currently have copies of her very first vet bill on her campaign and will update with her estimates for her surgery.

When rescuers at Jaded Paws Rescue got the call about a five-day-old kitten that had been born with her umbilical cord wrapped around her tiny legs, they knew they needed to act fast. Nixie hadn't eaten since the night before and this little girl was fading away…
