Upon intake, it was very apparent that one of Surie's limbs had fused all the way down to her hip, and the other, while still flexible, had zero feelings and would drag behind her. Right off the bat, rescuers fell in love with Surie, as she reminded them of another little paralyzed kitten that despite their best efforts, sadly did not make it. So, they were determined to do everything in their power to see her flourish, and that's exactly what they did. Day by day, rescuers earned her trust and she taught them many things. As of right now, Surie is a permanent ward of the rescue due to her ongoing medical needs, which means she will not be made available for adoption, but will ultimately become a mascot for Jaded Paws Rescue.
As of this past week, Surie was finally healthy enough to undergo her first of two or three surgeries to help better her quality of life. The vet team amputated her hyperextended leg, and while the plan was to also spay her at that time, her temperature plummeted while on the table. So, it was decided that it wasn't safe to do both surgeries at the same time, and she will have her remaining back leg amputated in the future, as well as her spay.
Surie has left a mark on rescuers' hearts forever. We have a lot to learn from animals, especially Surie…because despite her physical limitations in life, she is the sweetest and happiest little girl there ever was. Not to mention Surie's best friends are Nimue, a kitten with no eyes, and her seeing-eye pal, Kelpie. It truly doesn't get any purer than that. However, since she requires around-the-clock care due to her needs, this adds up fast. Please consider donating toward Surie's medical care or sending her an item from her wishlist to aid in her journey. Thank you in advance!

Back in September, a volunteer at Jaded Paws Rescue had come across a tiny kitten in a local unmanageable cat colony who was unable to walk. Without knowing any further information, rescuers offered to cover the kitten's medical bill for a vet visit. It was ultimately decided that this little kitten was paralyzed from the waist down, and incontinent to boot. Rescuers promptly had the kitten surrendered to them, so they could further assess. However, at the time, they had no idea how Surie would forever change their lives for the better.
