Goatlandia Farm Animal Sanctuary was contacted by a woman who could no longer care for her 8 ducks and 2 geese because she was relocating to Vermont. They urgently needed a home, so rescuers leaped into action!
Part of what rescuers do at Goatlandia is helping the community with their companion animals. So, they were delighted to be able to help this woman find a safe, loving home for her birds at Goatlandia.
Rescuers previously had two rescued male ducks, and later took in two females. But, they quickly realized that the females were getting far too much male “attention”, and it was wearing on them. So, rescuers were actively looking to add females to the family. By chance, all 8 ducks that were in need of a home were female! Now, they have a total of 10 female ducks, and have a much better balance for their "amorous boys”.
The new ducks and geese came with fun names: Proudfoot, Dandelion, Snowberry, Jamuna Puddleduck, Penelope Puddleduck (Jamuna's sister), Mouse, Adventure Duck, Torpedo, and Maisy. So in total, rescuers have 12 ducks and 2 geese. And it turns out.... they eat a lot! Please help rescuers support their health! They can use donations of funds as well as items on their wishlist. They eat a pelleted waterfowl feed, LOTS of lettuce, berries, melons, and bananas. Monetary donations will go towards the renovations of their duck pond. Thank you so much in advance for your love and kindness!
