Peach is a 6 lb 5-year-old Terri-poo who came to Lovebugs Rescue very pregnant. She is such a love and her pregnancy seemed to be going quite well. That is until one evening, about 5 weeks into her gestation, she began to have contractions and started to deliver her puppies. Sadly, it was too early and she lost all five of her puppies on Memorial Day.
This was devastating for rescuers and peach, but her foster mom allowed her to spend time with her puppies before taking them away. Peach seemed to recover from the loss and began to get back into the swing of things in her foster home. However, over the last few days, Peach became very lethargic and wouldn't eat. Rescuers rushed her to the vet and ran X-rays and bloodwork. Peach was dehydrated, and her bloodwork showed anemia, low platelet count, and low blood sugar. This can be very dangerous and even fatal for a dog her size.
