This rural county in Alabama has no animal control or shelter and its stray population is at a high. The rural countryside is also a highly desired destination for farmers, hunters, and sportsmen. These innocent strays are often viewed as a nuisance and tragically these animals are forced to endure unimaginable pain. They are often shot, poisoned, intentionally run over, starved, brutally caught in traps, forced to dogfight, and physically abused. We currently have 31 rescued puppies and their mommas in our care and need help.
One of the male pups has a serious eye injury. Our rescue purchased portable chain link fence kennels, food, preventatives, and vaccines for them to receive their first treatments during their quarantine.
Since Jan 2020 Dirt Road Doggies has already taken into rescue over 100 discarded dogs & puppies from the same rural county where these 27 puppies, 4 Mama Dogs, and 2 abandoned Pittie Mix females are currently being kept safe and fed until we can get them transported to foster homes. The moms need to be spayed immediately and we anticipate the adult dogs are likely heartworm positive and will need to undergo treatment.
We deeply appreciate all contributions and every donation makes a difference. We always post pupdates, videos, and adoption day pictures. Thank You for supporting this mission and helping us save the lives of these deserving strays.
