Hitch was found severely injured - lying crumpled on the ground - after falling over TWENTY feet from a freeway overpass to the ground. He had just barely survived unimaginable trauma and was, quite literally, clinging on to life. Fortunately, this poor baby had some very incredible individuals fighting for him: The Good Samaritans living in the homeless camp underneath the freeway, who - after witnessing the horrifying fall - immediately called for help. And thank goodness they did, as they likely saved Hitch's life.
Rescuers raced to the area to meet the Good Samaritans that had remained with Hitch; but any sense of relief was short-lived, quickly replaced by horror and heartache as they got their first glimpse of just what they were up against. At this time, it remains unknown as to whether Hitch jumped or was thrown from a moving car. What IS known, however, is that the impact left him swollen all over (suffering from clear internal injuries) – with his arms and torso covered in road rash and skin abrasions. The bones in BOTH front arms were left shattered and bent VERY out of shape. Heartbreakingly enough, despite Hitch being unable to move, his body was spasming uncontrollably from the pain. And sadly, the list continues to grow.
At this time, donations are urgently needed to help support Hitch, as his medical expenses will be staggering – with the estimate of his hospitalization starting at $8000. After spending a night at Vergi Emergency Hospital, Hitch is now being transported to Texas A&M Small Animal Hospital. He needs at least TWO emergency surgeries on his arms alone. But before he can undergo those, he needs additional X-rays and scans to help assist doctors in determining exactly what is going on in his body…and more importantly, how to fix it.
Already, Hitch has undergone multiple X-rays and 24-hr. critical care at the ER - and in 2 days (fingers and paws crossed🤞), will undergo both emergency surgeries. He will need thorough diagnostic/blood-panels done routinely to help doctors answer all of the unknowns. However, this is just the start of what will understandably be a long recovery road. Hitch's trauma is extensive, and the necessary treatment to help him heal will be no different.
Please keep this special boy in your thoughts as he continues his recovery. If you are able, please consider making a donation towards Hitch's ongoing care. Anything you can spare, $5 or $50, helps immensely in supporting his medical bills. Thank you so much, everyone. We will update as Hitch's recovery progresses.

The resilience of an animal is always something to admire; but when it comes to this gentle boy, it's downright unbelievable. And though his exact traumas are, and will likely always be a mystery, there are a few things about this baby's past that are blatantly and heartbreaking obvious. His journey has been long, and it has been exhausting – despite being wholly and undeniably deserving.
