There is absolutely NO reason as to why any soul would be allowed to get to this condition.—Or anywhere close to this condition, for that matter. Hercules didn't ask to be left bloodied and beat down, curled up on an abandoned car seat; nor did he deserve to be. But sadly, he was. And now, he’s having to carry the burden - and insurmountable pain - of those cruel humans who decided to treat him this way.
You see, prior to being abandoned, Hercules was seen as nothing more than a punching bag—used as a bait dog by his “humans.” His sole purpose was to endure pain; to train their fighting dogs on how to mutilate another animal. It's a sick fate to give a living being, and it is one that Hercules knows all too well—made even darker by the fact that poor Hercules is also completely deaf. He couldn’t hear the dogs gearing up to attack him, nor could he hear the commands of the humans directing them to do it. He just felt the pain of getting ripped apart, again and again. Then, after being forced into a ring with fighting dogs time and time again, Hercules’ body had suffered so much that he had, essentially, become useless to the people who had him. So they drove to a different part of town, pulled into a shopping complex, and dumped Hercules' ailing body there.
Thankfully, the shop owner took action and made a life-saving call—with those of Vegas Pet Rescue Project immediately stepping up to the plate. However, the time rescuers got to him, the situation was critical. He remains under round-the-clock care at the ER, on proper IV antibiotics, pain medication, and treatment to combat the infections coursing through his body. His torn-up noggin' desperately needs surgery, but at this point, poor Hercules is incredibly weak—far too weak for surgery. So for now, doctors are keeping him as comfortable as possible with wound cleanings and bandage changes multiple times a day.
At this time, donations are urgently needed to help support Hercules, as his medical expenses will be staggering – with his hospitalization and ear surgery estimate just the tip of the iceberg. Please keep this special boy in your thoughts, and if you are able to assist with Hercules’ care, please consider donating to this fundraiser or sending him a special "get-well" item off his wishlist below. Thank you for your kindness and support!

For this gentle boy, to say life has not come easy would be an understatement. To say that he's simply been 'abandoned' or 'neglected' would be a lie. This is an animal that has silently suffered through a lifetime of abuse, likely inflicted at the hands of people who knew – or should have known – better.
