This precious boy was placed with an awesome foster. She reported back that he was thriving and was putting on good, consistent weight (which was a concern since he was skin and bones when found). When he originally came into our care he was also suffering from bouts of loose, bloody diarrhea containing gravel and bits of plastic from a bacterial infection. We were able to get all of that under control and we thought that he was on the up and up!
One day, his foster walked in the door from work to an absolutely horrifying sight. Shrimp in his bed violently convulsing. We rushed him to the vet, fearing for his safety and life.
A look back at the foster’s camera showed that that was his second seizure of the day. Clearly, this precious boy was suffering from something that was trying its best to steal his life, and we couldn’t let that happen. He was admitted immediately and testing began to see what could cause this. They ran a ton of tests and he was able to make an emergency neurologist appointment. They started him on seizure medication, and he has been taking to that very well.
Shrimp has a very long road ahead of him. We need to schedule an MRI and a spinal tap to properly diagnose the cause of his seizures. We are currently looking at almost $7,000 in medical bills just to make sure he has his medications and to run the appropriate testing. This poor boy deserves to live a long and happy life, so we are willing to take on this burden but we are in need of your help.
Any amount you are able to give, or any gift you decide to send is a huge help to what we are doing for Shrimp. This is a very large undertaking for our rescue, especially with the amount of need that there is in the rescue community. We know that if we can all come together, we can save this sweet angel’s life. We are so incredibly grateful for your support and kindness towards our baby Shrimp!
