Priya is a tiny newborn puppy who ended up at a terrifying animal shelter after less than one month of life.
Young puppies like Priya are highly susceptible to disease and infection and should have regular inspections to monitor their health and prevent major issues.
Sadly, poor Priya has never received any medical and is completely infested with parasitic worms. Serious health problems can occur if worms in dogs are left untreated. While each parasite affects dogs differently, there are some general warning symptoms that dog owners should be aware of. Worms may cause diarrhea, abdominal pain, weight loss, vomiting, poor coat appearance, pot-bellied appearance, lethargy, dehydration, anemia, intestinal blockage, pneumonia, and blood in the stool.
Priya is severely anemic and doesn't have enough red blood cells circulating throughout her body. She has very little stamina or energy, is listless, and tires more easily. Anemia can also cause weight loss, labored breathing, loss of appetite, a faster heart rate, blood loss, and pale gums. She needs to have her blood tested in order to diagnose the underlying cause of her illness and restore her back to good health.
