Sadly, Elmer's owner was a victim of domestic violence and fled to a new apartment with Elmer to escape his abuser, but the offender managed to track them down, break into the apartment, and throw Elmer against the wall with enough force to shatter his back leg. Elmer's owner came home to find this poor boy whimpering in a corner of the vandalized home and immediately reached out to local animal control for help. Unfortunately, Elmer's heartbroken owner was forced to surrender him to the shelter so that he could receive urgent medical treatment.
Shockingly, Elmer was already missing a hind leg and underwent surgery last month to insert a metal plate into his injured limb. Later, little Elmer was transferred to our care for physical therapy to help him walk in a way that won't damage his spine. We have been able to raise enough for his surgery thus far, which is a miracle, but we are still not quite finished with him yet. Depending on how things go, we still need donations for his continued care, rechecks, an physical rehabilitation treatments (which may go upwards of $1000+) Your generous donations will go directly toward Elmer's continued care and of course, any excess donations will go towards other medical needs in our care that are worthy of support. We operate soley on donations so any help you can give would mean the world.
Please consider helping sweet little Elmer's Glue by donating to his medical fund or sending a get-well gift from his wishlist, such as food, treats, and supplements. Umbrella of Hope is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and all donations are fully tax-deductible.
