At just 3 months old, poor Zeppelin’s life has been a rollercoaster. Emotionally and physically.
He came to us at ThisIsHouston after sustaining a femur fracture and more recently, a tibia fracture in the same leg. He’s been bounced around from household to household; unable to keep him anymore, his original family rehomed him to someone who could not provide the care he desperately needed. And - already uncertain and sadly undersocialized - Zeppelin’s new home suddenly became a place of fear.– For this growing pup who desperately needed attention, love, and guidance, and for the children who grew fearful of him. Thankfully, they reached out to us for assistance and we were able to take over his care.
Zeppelin was checked out at one of our vets, where he received his intake exam and had new X-rays taken. Per his prior owner, Zeppelin sustained the femur fracture back in November and had it repaired, but unfortunately, somehow re-injured the same leg (this time a tibia fracture) sometime afterward and has been wearing a cast ever since.
X-rays show that his second fracture is already healing so we left it alone. There is some evidence of muscle wasting in that affected leg so there is fear the leg may not grow appropriately, but only time will tell what will happen. Regardless of just what Zeppelin’s future entails, we are committed to getting this guy back on all 4 paws – which means re-checks, more X-rays and bloodwork, and lots of TLC, at the very least. And to give Zeppelin the best chance possible, his foster mom has been doing physical therapy exercises at home with him to help strengthen the leg and ensure that he won’t have any long-term issues.
Despite his injuries and difficult past though, Zeppelin is incredibly loving and gentle; all he wants is someone to finally love him. Well, we've got news for him…we intend to get him exactly that, and so much more! Anything you can spare, $5 or $50, will help us towards Zeppelin's medical costs and give him the life he deserves. We will keep you updated, thank you so much for your kindness and support!
