Our hearts broke at the thought of this young family being separated or worse, losing their lives before having the opportunity to experience true love and care. We knew the clock was ticking, and we knew we had to act quickly as soon as we learned of the situation. So, we decided to make Momma, Grizzly, and Groot the newest members of the Rescued Pets Movement family – to ensure this family remained whole as they embarked on their journey towards healing and happiness.
As we examined Momma more closely, our hearts sank. She had been the victim of cruelty, so terrified at intake that she needed to be sedated for her own safety. Her skin scrape revealed that she was suffering from Sarcoptic Mange, a painful and contagious condition that required immediate attention, which vets immediately began treating with a series of injections, subcutaneous fluids, and medications – all while she remained under anesthesia. (She will need to receive two more injections under anesthesia, at two-week intervals.) And then, her babies' skin scrapes both confirmed the presence of Sarcoptic Mange, and their fecal tests revealed a hoard of hookworms and whipworms.
To treat their mange, Momma and babies will receive a dosage of Ivomec every two weeks, for a total of three doses. To eliminate the hookworms and whipworms, they will be given dewormer once daily (for three days), with a follow-up treatment in three weeks and a final treatment three months later. And to address their flea infestations, Momma and her babies will all receive Capstar for two consecutive days.
Support today is crucial for providing the medical care, comfort, and love that this family so desperately needs. And at this time, we are in desperate need of donations to support this precious little family's medical needs, as the bills for their ongoing intensive care are racking up quick. 🙏 Please send some positive energy to Momma and her 2 fresh-faced little babies, Grizzly and Groot. Anything you can spare, $5 or $50, helps immensely in supporting this precious family - thank you for your kindness and support!

In the dimly lit corner of the shelter, Momma and her two puppies, Grizzly and Groot, huddled together for warmth and comfort. Each and every one of their poor bodies is covered in painfully raw, cracked, and bleeding skin—a clear indication that this family has lived outdoors, exposed to the harsh elements; never truly knowing the warmth of a loving home.
After likely living outside their entire lives, they were thrust into an unfamiliar environment—landing smack-dab in the middle of a very overcrowded animal shelter on April 12th. Their bodies are riddled with fleas, which have now left them understandably swollen, itchy, and raw; their stomachs are packed-full of parasitic worms, and; they are teeming with infections, inside and out.
In the shelter, Momma continued desperately trying to protect her vulnerable, fragile puppies—a testament to the love and devotion that bound them together. Despite this family's evident pain and shyness, though, there was a spark of hope in their eyes, a longing for love and a chance at a better life. But just mere DAYS after being brought to the shelter, this family found themselves on the brink of being torn apart forever – with Momma being placed on the euthanasia list for April 15th, with a deadline of 1 PM.
