Libby was sitting in an overcrowded shelter, painfully thin, favoring one injured side, and just hours away from being placed on the euthanasia list. Yet somehow, despite everything stacked against her, she still greeted the world with a smile and the desire to fight with everything she had.

Libby’s leg and hip injuries initially raised fears she might need orthopedic surgery, possibly even two, but after a specialist appointment and new X-rays, no significant abnormalities were found. Instead, her treatment plan called for weeks of strict rest paired with anti-inflammatory medication. Alongside her orthopedic care, Libby received Bravecto and ProHeart injections, was treated for a recurring ear infection, and was started on high-quality food and fish oil supplements. Little by little, her fur grew back, her skin cleared up, and her body grew stronger with every visit back to the vet.

Through all of it, Libby’s spirit never wavered. She found her very best friend in her foster sister, Freya. The two became completely inseparable, and she slowly transformed from a dog who had simply survived something into a dog who was finally living.

Then something magical happened. She had found herself a forever family. Even through a screen during a virtual meet-and-greet, they knew instantly Libby belonged with them. Libby made the journey from Houston all the way to her new home in Washington, where a fur brother and two kids were already waiting to love her.
