This 3 lb pug puppy was cruelly left to fend for himself. He was dumped and left to die in a box, alone and frightened, with a severely injured eye, displaying the heartbreaking evidence of a dog bite. His pressing, fragile condition was our utmost concern. We knew he needed immediate, life-saving enucleation surgery, so we rushed him to the vet.

Once there, we were informed that he wasn’t quite strong enough yet. Jax still had a lot of healing to do before he’d be able to withstand the scalpel. Yet, despite the wait, this boy was already making us proud. Jax started his new eye drops and oral antibiotics like a champ and began gaining weight like there was no tomorrow. In a matter of days, he had gone up half a pound, from 3 lbs to 3.5 lbs! We couldn’t have been happier.

Then, in what felt like a blink of an eye, Jax was off to surgery and prep eight days after coming into our care. When the medics finished his procedure, the first thing that came to our minds was, “Say hello to the new cutest monocular pup in town!” it nearly made our eyes wet with happy tears when the vets said, "He’s a real trooper!" We couldn’t agree more. From being abandoned in a box to having a tough surgery and still being the sweetest, happiest little pup, Jax really is THAT angel.

As he embarked on his road to recovery, Jax took some well-deserved rest, surrounded by love and comfort, while waiting for his stitches to be removed. All the while, we were working in the background with a major surprise! We were going through adoption applications for this tiny little sweetheart, working day and night to find the perfect match.

Jax’s forever was found! She waited for her little baby to be completely rested and healed, allowing him the space and time to relax in our care until he was completely up for the transition. We're thrilled for Jax. His new mama was IMMEDIATELY captured by Jax when we put his application out, and we knew right then and there that she may just be the one.

It's clear that sweet Jax will be showered with love and have the wonderful life he deserves, but we will surely miss him! This heartwarming outcome was made possible by the generosity of all who donated, supporting Jax's journey and allowing us to continue our mission of saving lives. Thank you for being a part of Jax's incredible story! Happy Forever, Jax!
