In the past year, All Breed Rescue has saved 46 dogs with heartworm. Our shelter has dogs tested and treated if positive prior to transport in order to avoid additional costs for adopters. Recently, we've had 3 dogs with positive test results that will need to undergo the expensive treatment up North. Rudy, a sweet and happy Rottweiler was surrendered to our facility with a positive diagnosis. Queenie B, our little Jack Russell Mix was also transferred to our facility with heartworm. Both of these two have their first round of treatment scheduled for the first week of August. Treatment costs for Queenie B and Rudy will total close to $1000.00. Additionally, one of our long-terms dogs will need treatment. In September of 2017, Tequila was rescued from St. Thomas during the hurricanes and treated for a positive heartworm diagnosis. Unfortunately, our happy brindle girl is still positive, and will need to go through additional vetting and possible further treatment.
All Breed Rescue believes that all dogs deserve to have happy, healthy homes and makes an effort to pull and treat heartworm positive dogs. We are very fortunate to rely on generous donors and sponsors like you to continue this mission of saving dogs. With the unexpected costs associated with these three dogs' heartworm diagnoses, we're asking for assistance in order to fund their treatment. We greatly appreciate your support.
