is now

To better serve our animal-loving community as we move into the future, we plan to expand our offering. And in the process, we thought a name change was in order is now

"Cuddly" is how we feel about animals and it's how animals make us feel. That being said, while there are many upcoming changes, our mission remains the same. We aim to help animals around the world live better lives through innovation, community, and kindness. Thank you for being a part of our movement and, now, the family.

Overweight Senior Lab Needs Vet Attention!

  • Breed: Labrador Retriever
  • Name: Ellie
  • Color: Black
  • Size: Extra Large
  • Sex: Female
  • Age: Senior

$425.00 raised of $500.00

We took this sweet face in after her family went through a divorce and neither her mom or dad wanted to keep her.

Ellie's had a confusing few days, but she is safe tonight in one of our foster homes where she will decompress and get the care and attention she so desperately craves.

Ellie really needs help from our partner vet. She is currently tipping the scales at almost 100 pounds and needs some extra attention and testing to get on the path to being healthy again. She is stiff in the hips, and we need to find out if it is due to weight or to possibly something else going on in her hind end. Ideally, she needs to lose about one-third of her body weight. We will get her an exam and x-rays to investigate her stiffness, update her vaccinations, test her for heartworm and tick-borne diseases as well as do a full senior blood panel to make sure internally she is OK and that her thyroid is functioning normally. We will also do a fecal, plant a microchip and groom her since she has extremely outgrown nails and is shedding up a storm, possibly due to anxiousness from the move.

Ellie is your typical happy senior lab who did not ask to be put in this situation, but like a lab, has taken everything in stride. If you can spare anything at all to donate or send an item to Ellie, we know she will sure appreciate it. Thank you.

  • Update on sweet Ellie's vet visit: She was a GREAT patient. She let the vet team whittle down those monsterous nails and she is already walking SO much better. You can tell she looks and feels good after a thorough bath -- such a beauty, inside and out.

Unfortunately, her bloodwork came back that she is positive for Lyme's disease so we will do a further test to see if the infection is new and/or is at the point that she should be treated with doxycycline. We are raising our original goal amount because this medication is costly for such a big dog, but we will treat her because we want her to be as healthy as she can be -- she deserves the best shot at life going forward!

Ellie's main challenge now is to LOSE WEIGHT -- at almost 100 lbs, she is in a danger zone! We have her on a weight loss plan and we will monitor her progress while she is with us. We've added weight loss foods to her wish list, and it would be a HUGE wonderful gift to get any donations of those foods to help her move toward her goal. Any other donations toward her care are greatly appreciated!! Thank you for all your support for our seniors. We can't do what we do without your continued generosity!!
