We took this sweet face in after her family went through a divorce and neither her mom or dad wanted to keep her.
Ellie's had a confusing few days, but she is safe tonight in one of our foster homes where she will decompress and get the care and attention she so desperately craves.
Ellie really needs help from our partner vet. She is currently tipping the scales at almost 100 pounds and needs some extra attention and testing to get on the path to being healthy again. She is stiff in the hips, and we need to find out if it is due to weight or to possibly something else going on in her hind end. Ideally, she needs to lose about one-third of her body weight. We will get her an exam and x-rays to investigate her stiffness, update her vaccinations, test her for heartworm and tick-borne diseases as well as do a full senior blood panel to make sure internally she is OK and that her thyroid is functioning normally. We will also do a fecal, plant a microchip and groom her since she has extremely outgrown nails and is shedding up a storm, possibly due to anxiousness from the move.
Ellie is your typical happy senior lab who did not ask to be put in this situation, but like a lab, has taken everything in stride. If you can spare anything at all to donate or send an item to Ellie, we know she will sure appreciate it. Thank you.
