This isn't the first time Florence found herself knocking on death's door.

Florence was adopted from a high-kill animal shelter in Philadelphia last month and is already back at the pound in much worse condition.

Now, both of her front legs are completely shattered and she's headed to surgery for major fracture repair. The goal of the surgery is to put her bones back where they belong and hold them in place until they heal. This process usually takes about 6-8 weeks while the body fuses the bones back together.

Florence's previous owner claims that she fell while running in the backyard but we don't believe this fabricated story. This poor pup is going to have a long and extensive road to recovery and her estimated vet bill is around $15,000.

Officials are currently investigating the incident and will hopefully have more answers soon. For now, our focus is on getting Florence the love and care she needs. This little girl is an absolute sweetheart and deserves a chance at a happy and healthy life.

We are doing everything in our power to help poor Florence but we operate solely on donations and are running low on funds. We're relying on our generous supporters to help raise enough funds to cover the cost of her critical medical treatment and surgery.

Florence had to have emergency surgery to repair one of her legs as it fractured again. She is recovering well and doing her best Meerkat impression. We are still in desperate need of donations for our sweet little lady. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far!

Please keep our little Florence in your thoughts tonight as she will be going back into surgery tomorrow to repair one of her elbows again. Sadly due to the severity of the fractures we knew this was a possibility and there is a refracture. Well here we are again. It is hard enough to stomach what has been done to her and we are heart broken she has to go back under again. She is a special girl and we will do what it takes to get her to the point where she can run around and be a happy dog. Donations for her care are what we need right now as this is 3 surgeries, going on 4 and her expenses are over $10,000. Please consider donating to her care. We 100% promise you she is worth it.

Florence is recovering from having some of the pins removed from her right elbow. We are hoping to get her in to physical therapy this week to begin what will be an intense several weeks of working on her legs to help them gain range of motion. Physical Therapy is pretty expensive - $90 per session and she is going twice a week. She is sob sweet and soooo worth everything that is being put in to her to ensure she lives a great life moving forward.

Thank you to everyone who is donating to help little Florence. Her spirits are up but she is not out of the woods just yet. She is going to need another surgery in about 3 weeks to remove pins from one of the elbows. Paws crossed for our baby girl.

First, we would like to send out a Thank You to everyone who has donated so far. You all have been truly amazing! We are still far away from the funds we need to help cover the medical bills for this baby but we wanted to update everyone.

Florence had a rough night. They were only able to fix one of her front legs yesterday as the repair itself took over 3 hours. The docs felt it best to stop there for the time being as she was under for 5 hours total. Last night her leg swelled up some and she spiked a fever which has since resolved. The plan is to go back in today after giving her a break to fix the other front leg. We wish we had a video of her giving little tail wags. It is as if she knows she is safe and they are taking good care of her there. We will update later on her once we know.
