Chestnut is a tenacious street dog whose life as a drifter alone on the streets hasn't been fun or glamorous. His day-to-day focus is survival, for which he scavenges through dumpsters for food, burrows in bushes for shelter, and drinks from the stagnant puddles for hydration.
As a solitary street dog, Chestnut has been forced to tap into his primal instincts in order to satisfy his needs for survival, food, water, and shelter. Dogs are pack animals, though, and Chestnut deserves to be loved and comforted by kind humans who care for his well-being. Poor Chestnut was found wandering a heavily-trafficked road with an immediately noticeable skin infection that had ravished his emaciated body with red, itchy, crusty skin and caused most of his hair to fall out.
We were able to catch Chestnut and are taking him to the vet for a thorough examination and much-needed medical treatment. Chestnut will likely need antibiotic therapy for four to twelve weeks. He also needs to be bathed in medicinal shampoo and conditioner to help kill the infection and alleviate the pain of his sore, aching skin.
We will have an update on sweet Chestnut as soon as we get more information from the vet. In the meantime, please consider showing poor Chestnut how much he's loved by sending a get-well gift from his wishlist, such as delicious food, fun toys, and health supplements.
