On Monday 9/13, rescuers at Animal Charity of Ohio were called in to seize a property in Youngstown, Ohio hoarding 19 animals from one of the worst cases they had ever seen. This is not only because of the number of animals found but also because of their gut-wrenching conditions.
The investigation led to the seizure of 13 cats and 6 dogs who were immediately transported to the vet for extensive medical care. Most of the animals are underweight and suffering from a long list of ailments, and sadly, two animals had to be humanely euthanized due to their deteriorating condition.
Every single one of these animals is covered in bedbugs, fleas, sores, scabs, and suffering from severe dental disease. The dogs are ranging from severe flea infestation and are almost completely hairless with horrible mange. One has a missing eye, another’s eye is literally hanging out of the socket, and two are unable to even walk.
To put it in perspective how appalling of a condition this house is in, it has been condemned. The people living there also had to leave because they could not safely stay. Agents are working to identify who was supposed to be taking care of the animals and will look to bring charges against them once they are identified, but for now, they are ensuring these innocent animals are receiving the urgent medical care they desperately need.
As of September 1st, Animal Charity of Ohio has taken in 373 animals. To put it lightly, it has been an exhausting and heartbreaking year and they are in dire need of donations, fosterers, and adopters to help with the influx of animals. Anything and everything you are able to donate makes more of a difference than you know. Thank you so much for your support and we will continue to keep you updated as things progress.
