Hello, everyone. We really need your help. ❤️ For us at Old Bones Animal Rescue, spay and neuter are vital—for so many reasons.
Per The Humane Society of the United States, 88% of pets living in underserved communities are not spayed or neutered. This is why we are currently working on a bigger Spay & Neuter project and expanding our mission of serving abandoned dogs and puppies in-and-around the surrounding area of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. There are so many unaltered cats and dogs, especially as the warmer season begins to bring a wave of new lives. So, it is especially important to tackle as many as we can now.
Some quick facts on the benefits of spay and neuter: An estimated 6.5 million animals enter U.S. shelters nationwide every year—approximately 920,000 of whom are euthanized (390,000 dogs and 530,000 cats) due to issues such as sicknesses, old age, and overcrowding.
Many of these animals who come into shelters are NOT spayed or neutered, which in turn significantly adds to the overpopulation and overcrowding of shelters. For reference, an unspayed dog and her puppies can produce around 67,000 dogs, in just 6 years. An unspayed cat and her kittens can produce over 420,000 new lives, in just 7 years.
Every life deserves to live a happy, healthier life—and one way to ensure that goal is to spay and neuter all we can. Please consider joining our Army; any amount you can give will go directly to saving lives by neutering and spaying the desperate animals that come into our care. We are incredibly grateful for your time and consideration, so do the sweet faces above!
