What IS known, however, is that the impact left Tommy swollen all over, with his body covered in road rash and skin abrasions. And what's even more concerning, however, are his initial X-rays – which revealed that his leg and pelvis are badly broken (likely due to blunt-force trauma). So badly, in fact, that a specialist needed to be called in to help assess and identify all of the breaks he sustained.
Right now, Tommy needs a LOT of help. The trauma left multiple fractures to his right leg AND pelvis. And unfortunately, because of how it was broken, Tommy's pelvis must be re-attached (so amputation of the leg is not an option). In addition to all that's going on with his right side, both Tommy's left leg and his pelvic also sustained hairline fractures, and his hip bone is popped out of its socket, so he will need surgeries to fix these as well. And last but not least, he needs an FHO surgery to stabilize his hip.
Tommy's first emergency surgery is happening today and will be hospitalized for a few days thereafter. Please keep this special boy in your thoughts as he continues his recovery and if you are able, please consider making a donation towards Tommy's ongoing care. The cost for the total of all his surgeries is estimated to be $7,000.00 dollars and anything you can spare, $5 or $50, helps immensely in supporting his medical bills. Thank you so much, everyone, we will update as Tommy's recovery progresses.

Tommy was found dragging his broken body through the streets of Mexicali, Mexico, caked in dirt and mud. He could hardly walk; in fact, he could barely even move.
His injuries needed immediate medical help: Yet, this poor boy was left to waste away with little food or water, and absolutely no shelter from the harsh elements. On the streets, he was just another dog in distress, left to suffer. Another voiceless victim who needed someone – anyone – to care.
Thankfully, just the right person saw him: A long-time animal advocate, who immediately got Tommy off the streets and to the ER, before reaching out to us for help. But right now we are still discovering the extent of this sweetheart's injuries, and what is required to fix them.
