Ace also has a cough. He’s on antibiotics and is getting a little better, thankfully!
He has some cysts and little lumps, dermatitis, broken teeth and periodontal disease. This is just the outside stuff that we can see. We are hoping there is nothing (at least too serious) going on inside of his body.
Ace was set to die on May 11th, 2022. The shelter kept extending his euthanasia date, but told us June 9 would be his final day alive. We ended up pulling Ace from the shelter because there was NO way this should be how Ace's story ends.
Despite all the horrible treatment Ace has had on behalf of human neglect, he is a gentle soul and so friendly. He loves people SO MUCH and just wants to be near them! He is an Angel! We do not deserve dogs. 😔
Ace lived a life of neglect and abuse. This sweetie pie deserves the best, and we plan to give that to him! We would appreciate any help possible, as Ace is going to require a bit of love and care to get him feeling his best.

Meet Ace! Ace is at least 8 years old (we think he could be a little older but not positive) and the boy is as handsome as can be. 😍
Unfortunately, Ace was living in terrible conditions for the majority-if not all-of his life! His owner kept him outside on a leash with a collar that was way too tight for his neck. The collar actually dug into his neck and left abrasions and open wounds.😣
Because he was living outside in the heat, Ace got infected by something called "flystrike". Now if you don't know what that is... beware.. this next part is a little gross. Flystrike occurs when flies lay their eggs in infected skin wounds of an animal. The wounds are initially caused by flies eating the flesh. The fly then lays eggs in the wounds, which hatch into maggots, that also eat the flesh. As you can imagine- it’s very uncomfortable and painful.
