As a rescue, we often see the aftermath of tragedy, but what we don’t see is the ‘before,’ which is often just as traumatic. Can you imagine overhearing someone scheme how they would be abandoning their dog?
This is the sad story of Bentley. A good Samaritan overheard her neighbor saying that because she was getting divorced and both her and her soon-to-be-ex would be moving away, she planned on leaving her dog out in the yard, for good. She was planning on abandoning him and letting him fend for himself in the yard he called home. The good Samaritan knew she couldn’t watch this type of animal cruelty occur, so she jumped in, vowing to take the dog from the owner so Bentley wouldn’t be abandoned. After stepping in, she then called us and let us know his story.
We immediately rushed to Bentley’s aid and were shocked to find out his near abandonment was not the only force working against this poor baby. Bentley had never been in a home before, as he lived outside his whole life. He survived solely on HOTDOGS and had never been inside a home. In fact, his rescuer needed to carry him inside like a baby, as he was terrified of this new experience. Bentley is also suffering from a painful ear infection.
We are committed to helping this baby recover from the unhealthy, outdoor life he was living and vow to get him all the medical attention he needs. We ask that you please donate to contribute to his vetting costs and select an item off his wishlist to help him settle into his new life. Thank you for being a part of Bentley’s rescue story.
