Kitana has lived off of scraps her entire life. She was born onto the streets of Tijuana Mexico and in order to survive, you eat what you can. Little did she know, that one of these scraps would come very close to taking her life.
She was hanging around a local mechanic shop as she always did, waiting for them to throw her their craps for lunch. They did, and she began chopping down on it aggressively (due to the fact that she doesn’t eat regularly) and before she knew it all she could feel was a roaring sense of pain… The man had thrown a chicken bone, and that bone was now sticking out of the roof of her mouth, right next to her eye.
When we saw the pictures of this poor girl, we were devastated. The amount of pain and fear she was in must have been overwhelming. She was rushed to the vet to for the wound to be cleaned and to have some antibiotics administered. All the while, we began making arrangements to take her in, and have her transported to us so that we could give her the proper treatment she needed.
The bone missed her eye by less than an inch. We are so so thankful for that, but it does not mean that this won’t be a difficult recovery. We are not sure what our next steps are as we are still in the process of getting her here, but we know that it will be quite pricey.
Please, if you could look at the face above and feel some sort of pull, we ask that you donate to her care. She needs us to rally for her, and she needs support more now than ever before. We thank you for your consideration and kindness, and we will continue to update everyone on her progress!
