This puppy’s body flew across the street as a car recklessly hit him and drove off. Petrified he ran over to the first house near him and hid in the corner. The elderly woman that owns the house called her son over and they tried for 2 days to bring him into the house, but he wouldn’t let them come near him.
Eventually, they were able to wrap him up and take him to the vet. The vet gave them pain medication and told them he needs an amputation. The elderly lady was not able to keep him or take care of his medical costs. She had communicated that she needed a rescue to take the pup or she would be forced to take him to the pound.
We received a message from a longtime friend of the Rescue, who wrote to us, saying, “I need some guidance, please… They are threatening to take this 3-4 month-old pup to the pound here in Mexicali, Mexico, where he will be euthanized... I know you have so many cases but is there another rescue that you know of that could possibly help??” We really couldn’t turn down the plea for help.
But while we were smack-dab in the middle of making arrangements for this poor puppy our friend then alerted us to a NEW emergency, saying, “We are in a severe power outage right now, and there is a Recycling Plant that has caught fire…”. We had to get this precious pup out, and quick, before the smoke inhalation steals his life.
Please help Mateo with a tax-deductible donation. We need to raise about $1500 for transportation to the US, food, and needed medical care (including blood tests, diagnostics, surgery, etc.). He will be tested for distemper, Heartworm, Lyme, Anaplasma and Ehrlichia. If he’s healthy he’ll receive his 1st set of vaccines, flea treatment, dewormed, pain meds, and preliminary X-rays. Thank you for all your continued support and generosity!
