She was prescribed 3.5mg of Omeprazole a day, but her owner cut the dosage because she was starting to get better and it was expensive medication. As many of us know, not completing treatment or medication can cause a dramatic decline, and that’s exactly what happened to Gracie. What happened next is difficult to fathom.
Gracie’s owner proceeded to try to self-euthanize her with an overdose of Benadryl last night. When it didn’t work, he called the store we host adoptions at this morning asking if they sold any seizure medication or pills that would “just kill her.”
Jumping into action, we immediately called back and asked Gracie’s owner to surrender her, so we could try to save her. Agreeing, he handed her over but then asked how he could adopt her back if she survives. Needless to say, that will not be an option for this man who intentionally inflicted such pain and suffering on this innocent pup.
Gracie has been dropped off at the vet where she is hospitalized. Thankfully, the vets have said it’s difficult to overdose on Benadryl so we can expect her to recover. Our hearts are absolutely broken for this sweet girl, and we are committed to doing everything we can to help her heal and live the life she deserves.
Please consider donating what you can to her. Gracie is not out of the woods yet, and we need all the help we can get to cover her bills and provide her with the supplies she needs to recover. Thank you for joining our fight against evil, and our fight for Gracie’s life.

Words cannot accurately describe our horror when we found out about Gracie, just moments ago. This sweet girl is a 6-month-old lab mix with hydrocephalus. This is a condition where there is a buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in a dog's brain, and it can be life-threatening.
