A Youngstown resident was arrested early Saturday morning on animal cruelty charges after beating several dogs with a shovel who were attacking each other.
Humane Agents with Animal Charity of Ohio rescued two dogs who were seriously injured upon arrival, and one dog had already passed away.
According to the suspect, the two Pit Bulls attacked two small dogs and killed one of them. Reports said one of the small dogs was in a corner of the backyard covered with dirt and leaves and a second dog was in a closet in the house and not moving.
The walls were covered in blood as well as the floor. As the suspect was being interviewed, police found another dog in the house with two broken back legs and head trauma.
Animal Charity took custody of the animals and got them emergency medical treatment over the weekend. Investigators seized two shovels covered with blood as evidence.
The dogs had their wounds cleaned and treated and are understandably sore, but up and walking nonetheless. The three dogs in our care have a long road of recovery ahead and could benefit from your prayers and support. The incident is under investigation.
We are doing everything in our power to save these badly beaten pups but we operate solely on donations and don't have enough funds for their critical medical treatment. We're relying on our generous supporters to help save these precious pups.
Please consider helping these sweet pups by donating to their medical fund or donating a get-well gift from their wishlist, such as food, treats, and supplements. Animal Charity Of Ohio is a 501c3 nonprofit organization; all donations are tax-deductible.
