We took in 6 dogs from a breeding/hoarding case. 5 are yorkies / yorkie mixed breeds and one minpin. These dogs were severely matted and all had skin issues upon arrival. Luckily they all got in for grooms immediately and went to foster homes.
Pumpkin pie, one of the older (7 year old) females had a benign mammary tumor removed during her spay. The many years of breeding had taken a toll on her body.
Tater, the oldest of all of them all (13 years) is the worst off. He went for his neuter and when they tried to intabate discovered a large cyst/tumor in his throat. His hips are out of place and his arthritis is bad. His kidney levels are elevated and he was unable to go under for surgery. His teeth are also rotten. He is on a two week course of antibiotics and if we are lucky they will make the cyst/possible tumor in his throat go away. If at the end of the two weeks it is still present then it will be assumed to be a tumor - we are hoping for a cyst!
Green Bean is the only minpin of the bunch. He is 9 years old and his skin is flaking off everywhere. His teeth were rotting out of his mouth at intake and so at his vet appointment he got fixed and had a dental. He now has pearly whites and is ready to find a home.
Marco & Polo are 3 month old yorkie mix boys. They haven’t had much human interaction in their lives and are very skittish and hard to catch. Luckily their foster momma is helping them learn to trust humans and they are improving every day!
Cassie is a 3 year old yorkie mix. She is the one with the horrible dreaded matting in the photos. Other than terrible skin and bald patches from tight matting she was thankfully in good health. She had a routine groom, spay, and is already in her forever home.
