Because upon intake at the shelter, staff immediately noticed that Cheeto was unable to bear any weight on his front right leg AND his right eye was spewing brown blood (notating possible ocular discharge). His owner history was also revealed—with the reason for his situation being that his previous owner gave him to another person, who was unable to keep him.
Emotionally speaking, this poor boy was incredibly scared—but who wouldn't be, after a lifetime of having no one and no help to turn to? And physically, initial X-rays revealed a severe fracture to Cheeto's front right leg (radius/ulna)—and, as confirmed by his doctors, has been for a very long time. He is alarmingly skinny, his teeth are rotten, and his fur is stiff and matted. And sadly, the discharge coming from his eye has been identified as OU Conjunctivitis – more commonly known as Pink Eye.
Cheeto is now at the Animal Hospital being treated for his emergency needs, but once his condition is more stable the remainder of his injuries will need to be fully addressed. Regardless of just what is in his future, however, we are committed to getting this sweetheart the VERY best medical care for his future, whatever that may be. And the GOOD news is that - aside from his obvious ailments - Cheeto is, all-things-considered, a VERY happy, loving boy.
This special boy deserves a chance, and we a determined to get him one. Please keep Cheeto in your thoughts and prayers, and if you are able to assist with his medical care, please consider donating to this fundraiser or sending him a "get-well" item off his wishlist below. More updates to come as Cheeto's recovery progresses, thank you so much!

Before coming to us at Rescued Pets Movement poor Cheeto wound up at the local animal shelter, listed as a "stray." Not entirely shocking–considering his appearance. What IS shocking, however, is (1) the sheer amount of things this poor little man is suffering from; AND (2) the love he has for ALL humans.
Cheeto arrived at the shelter on 02/11 and - due to the severity of his injuries and his skittish demeanor - was quickly marked for euthanasia, with his "Release Date" being 02/14… Valentine's Day.
