Please keep our special little girl in your thoughts and if you are able to donate to her ongoing care or send her a special item from her wishlist, it would be so greatly appreciated! Thank you all so much for your support, we couldn’t save kitties like Elphaba without you!

On Monday night, little Elphaba arrived at our rescue as an owner surrender — paralyzed, with no mobility in her back legs and incontinent.
We immediately scheduled a neurology appointment for the following morning and it was discovered that Elphaba has a severe spinal cord injury and lost ALL nerve function in her back legs. Because of this, Elphaba is incontinent and needs to be manually expressed multiple times a day to release her bladder and bowels. However, believe it or not, that is not all this little girl suffering from because she also has a severe URI — so bad to the point that she could barely breathe when she arrived on the first night. 💔
Since arriving, Elphaba has been receiving antibiotics, nebulizer treatments, and supplemental oxygen, and is already showing improvement! This poor girl is also extremely starved and emaciated, so we have her on a very strict re-feeding schedule. It shatters our hearts to pieces to think about all the suffering this little girl has endured in her short life, and the fact that her owners are the ones responsible for it — neglect IS abuse! Rest assured, we will be doing everything we possibly can for little Elphaba and we are so happy we are able to give her the safe, happy, cozy foster home she deserves (a huge shoutout to her amazing foster, Pei, who stepped up to the task of caring for a paralyzed, incontinent kitten so quickly and competently!).
Although it hasn’t even been a full week since Elphaba's arrival, she is already feeling so much better! Her personality is beginning to blossom and she is a purring machine! We can’t wait to continue to watch this tiny but mighty girl survive AND thrive! As for right now, we are continuing to monitor Elphaba and determine a treatment plan. Physical therapy will more than likely be in her future, but for now, we are working on clearing up her nasty URI and ensuring she is getting all the nutrients and love she can get so that she can finally live her very best life!
