So, later today, doctors are going to attempt to re-assess his condition and see if surgery is a possibility.—But Gregory's wounds are so deep and teeming with infections that even with surgery, they will require diligent, routine cleanings and bandage changes multiple times a day (for weeks).
Please keep this special boy in your thoughts, and if you are able to assist with Gregory's care, please consider donating to this fundraiser or sending him a special "get-well" item off his wishlist below. Thank you for your kindness and support!

Just one look at this poor boy and his horrific, mangled body leaves us with so many questions. How?? — How does something like this happen? How does one end up alone in this condition; with their body wounded and torn apart in SO many places??
Gregory was brought into the local animal shelter in this condition, where he was quickly marked for euthanasia. Thankfully though, the staff of the shelter reached out to us just in case to see if we could offer this boy a Second Chance and save his life. And when we say we BOOKED it to the shelter, we mean it—getting to Gregory just before he was scheduled to be euthanized.
He was already starting to succumb to the injuries by the time we got to the shelter—becoming severely lethargic and dehydrated; too weak to move, eat, or even lift his head. His poor little body had, somehow, been thrashed—with his leg so bloodied and swollen that it’s hard to comprehend just how he managed to keep walking on it for as long as he did.
All things considered, however, this little man is VERY lucky to be alive and - as of Saturday (02/25) - has been receiving life-saving care at VECC hospital. But an Army of support is urgently needed to help get Gregory through this, as his medical expenses will be staggering — with his emergency hospitalization and total care estimated to be a $10,000, minimum.
Gregory will remain at VECC as a 24/7 critical-care patient - on IV fluids, antibiotics, and heavy pain medication for the next few days. His first set of X-Rays revealed severe swelling, and there is a significant amount of blood and discharge coming from many of his wounds. And initial bloodwork wasn’t too reassuring, either, as he's got so much infection running through him and is in so much pain that his vitals were all over the place.
So, later today, doctors are going to attempt to re-assess his condition and see if surgery is a possibility.—But Gregory's wounds are so deep and teeming with infections that even with surgery, they will require diligent, routine cleanings and bandage changes multiple times a day (for weeks).
