Determined to find answers, they conducted a GI PANEL PCR, testing for infectious diseases and by March 20th, Gizmo's GI Panel results revealed a trifecta of infectious bacteria - Giardia, Coronavirus, and Campylobacter - ravaging his gut. And so, armed with this new knowledge, we started Gizmo on the correct antibiotics, hoping to see improvement within a week. But sadly, by April 6th, Gizmo's condition had not improved.
Despite the treatment for the parasites in his gut, Gizmo's diarrhea still persisted – leaving him dehydrated and feeling miserable. Gizmo's persistent diarrhea and dehydration have taken their toll on his frail body – leaving him now facing an anesthetized Upper and Lower GI scope and biopsy (estimated to cost an additional $4,000). It is a daunting big, but essential step, to uncovering the answers we desperately seek for Gizmo's health.
Please, please, please, everyone. We implore you to join us in Mission #SecondChanceForGizmo. Your donations, prayers, and well-wishes will make a world of difference for this resilient, brave little man. Together, we can write a new chapter in Gizmo's story—one filled with health, happiness, and the loving forever home he so deserves. More updates to come; thank you so much, all. ❤️🙏

Time was running out for this critically-sick boy at an overcrowded, underfunded animal shelter. Suffering from a multitude of issues, his emaciated, already-weakened body, now made even more emergent by violent bouts of vomiting, wracked with bloody diarrhea. He desperately needed help, yet - beyond that accessible to the medical staff at the shelter - he was left to wait. So, in a race against the clock, we pulled him out and rushed him to Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care (VECC).
Upon rescuing Gizmo, however, his condition only seemed to worsen. During the frantic journey to the ER, his bloody diarrhea and vomiting only persisted – leaving us even more uncertain of what was behind such agony. Thankfully, his condition stabilized after a few days under the 24/7 round-the-clock at VECC ER (the cost of which reached well over $5,000). However, despite being on IV fluids and other various medications, many of Gizmo's symptoms persisted, including dehydration and anemia. The medical team there worked tirelessly, providing fluids, medications, and an ultrasound—ruling out a foreign body/obstruction, but instead revealing thickened and inflamed intestines filled with fluid.
