Instead of experiencing the joys of puppyhood, homeless puppy Cinnamon has been fighting for survival in the desert, watching his young companions be slowly picked off by coyotes, wondering when he would be next. Instead of being attacked by a coyote as he feared, Cinnamon was faced with a whole new and different challenge, that left him with a massive and painful puncture wound. He was attacked by an owl. He is now in urgent need of transport and medical care.
We were recently alerted to over a dozen stray puppies living on a reservation in Anza, CA. These babies had no vaccinations, no spay or neuter surgeries, and no one to care for them. No one in the area was willing to open their home to these neglected babies. Many of the puppies had already been lost to coyotes. We were able to rescue one of the puppies, whom we have named Cinnamon. He had been attacked by an owl, and a local resident took pity on him and brought him to her home where she wrapped his wound in a pee pad. We are organizing transportation to bring Cinnamon from Anza to our facility so we can get him in to see our vet.
Unfortunately, the woman who found Cinnamon is unable to provide even temporary lodging for this little boy once he leaves the hospital, so we must find a place for him. We are currently overwhelmed with dogs in need and are in desperate need of fosters. Our facility is currently so packed that we have had to put kennels in the lobby and adoption rooms in order to make space. Without enough fosters, we will be forced to turn away dogs in need as we will have no place to put them. Even one new foster will mean that we can save one more of Cinnamon’s companions from being eaten by coyotes, hit by a car, or perishing from the desert cold.
Once Cinnamon is in our care, he will likely need to see an emergency vet, which is almost never less than $1,000. This poor baby has endured so much hardship so early on in his life, but we are determined to give him a second chance. Cinnamon deserves every happiness that life has to offer. We are hopeful that once Cinnamon recovers from his wound, we will be able to find this little boy a loving home.
We would be extremely grateful for any donation you can make, no matter the amount, to help us cover the cost of Cinnamon’s medical care. You can also send this little baby a get-well gift from his wishlist. Thank you so much for supporting Cinnamon!
