Dempsey, is a sweet boy who was found with a huge gaping wound on his side, and no owner to hold accountable, or to ask why?! Upon a closer inspection they found that the wound was days old, extremely wide, very deep, and covered in horse antiseptic spray.
We are not sure exactly what happened to this poor pup, but we do know that he is a fighter, like Jack Dempsey, who he is named after! Second Chance Pet Rescue rushed him to the vet and within 24 hours he had two surgeries, and there would be 6+ more to go...
With the wound being so large and with limited skin remaining to sew him up, this was going to be a tough one - PLUS to top it off, it was in a place that is greatly impacted by movement.
The vet had to slowly close parts of the wound, wait for them to heal and then close more. To avoid infection the wound had to remain open the entire time. All of this unfortunately meant Dempsey had to stay in a crate to avoid unnecessary movement.
Let's show Dempsey that humans are compassionate and caring of other beings, all with hopes of a well deserved run through the dog park in Dempsey's future. We need $4,000 to help him and Second Chance Pet Rescue with medical treatment and hospitalization, along with any of the wishlist items to make his life a little more happy (as puppy lives should be!).
