As of now, Miracle's eyes are both in rough shape, bulging, and ulcerated to the point where she cannot close her eyes. Miracle's fur is patchy, but was somehow still matted with feces and old food,  and she has no lower jaw. Because of this, she eats with the whole underside of her neck which is filthy and infected. She *looks* like she is smiling in photos, but since she actually has no lower jaw her tongue hangs freely. How she even managed to eat and drink on her own before is unknown. Miri must be spoon fed soupy wet food, she was literally starving. She gained 1 pound in her first few days at GFA going from 3 to 4 pounds. In addition to all this, the skin on her hind end is infected with years and years of infection, yeast, and fungus. She also has a large hernia and mammary mass hanging from her stomach. She has survived so much so far and though she is safe, she will never recover from over a decade of abuse and use of her body for money. Note: People began to come forward when the details of Miracle's abuse was posted by the rescue on local Facebook pages. Folks close to the family came forward to name her owners and to provide details about how often she was abused and how long she was tormented. Her rescuers pushed and pushed for those people to be charged and they are happy to report that both of them have now been charged with animal cruelty and are pending trial. 

After serving as a puppy mill mama for the entirety of her life, Miracle was thrown out after her last litter died, and she found herself surrendered to the shelter by someone claiming to have found her wallowing away in a local ditch. 

She was dumped at a local shelter where the staff there traced her microchip back to a known puppy mill in Iowa. A puppy mill, incidentally, that sold animals to a nearby pet stop in Virginia where she was found. When Gray Face Acres Senior Dog Rescue committed to caring for her after hearing this and had her in their arms, they could see no part of her body that wasn't damaged. They knew, right then and there, that she had suffered and mistreated her entire life - used for breeding until her body could no longer take it. GFA learned who her abusers were and that she was bred twice a year since 2009. Her last litter a few months ago died, so she had no value to her owners anymore.
