Rusty’s demeanor is proof that there is still good in the world. Though he has been through hellish experiences, he is still so sweet and kind and it is as if he has never known an enemy. When It’s A Pittie Rescue picked him up he was in awful shape. He was found wandering the streets of Chicago incredibly emaciated with a prolapsed rectum. This awesome rescue jumped into action to pick this boy up and take him to the vet to begin the process of having his injuries cared for.

The vet informed It’s A Pittie Rescue that he would need surgery immediately to try and remedy some of the damage that has been done. He is currently undergoing his second procedure to place the rectum back as the first attempt failed. They are hopeful that this time will take, but in chance it does not he will need to be sent to a specialist at Purdue University Animal Hospital to have a Colopexy. This surgery would ensure that his colon will stay intact internally to keep it from prolapsing again. We are hoping that it doesn’t come to this but are very aware of the high possibility that it might.

We are showing sweet Rusty all the love and care while he undergoes these surgeries. We hate that he has had to experience such pain and heartbreak but are so happy that he is now getting the attention he needs. These surgeries are absolutely necessary for his survival, and due to the unknowns when it comes to the outcomes, it has been a very pricey process.
