We know that the last few years have been tough for folks.
Job loss, inflation and increased prices, and general economic challenges have made providing the basic necessities for all members of the family harder than ever. In Texas, food insecurity - the ability to reliably access nutritious food - is a challenge for over a quarter of the population.
The first Pets Are Family events were held in Dallas, where local and national organizations distributed over 40,000lbs. of food, plus hundreds of medical services to families in need, during each event.
In Fort Worth 20% of families are facing the same struggle. Their pets' next meal is not a guarantee. Many pets are overdue on vaccines and flea preventative or have not seen a veterinarian in some time. It's not for a lack of love - there's no shortage of that. It's because affordable and accessible pet care and supplies can be hard to come by.
On December 10th, we plan to help change that with the Forth Worth Pets Are Family event. For the first time, we and other organizations will come together to provide free food and services to the community - to anyone who needs it. Our goal is to keep pets healthy and keep them at home, with the families who love them.
These critical events, which also help prevent unnecessary euthanasia at local shelters by keeping animals out of shelters, are not a funded public service. They are driven largely by the generosity of donors like you and the organizations who believe this work is important. When people who care about pet families donate, we can do more and help more. Every item donated from this wishlist will go into the hands of a pet family who needs support and to benefit a pet who wants nothing more than the family they already have and the comfort of a full bowl each day.
Please give if you can and help us make a difference for families in Texas.
