This innocent pup, then named Susanna, landed on the euthanasia list with just hours left before her scheduled deadline. She had arrived at the shelter at just two years old after being found as a stray in an apartment complex. Despite the dark circumstances and battling an upper respiratory infection, she couldn't stop wiggling and wagging her whole body for attention, earning her the title of the world's wiggliest sweetheart from the volunteer who instantly fell in love with her. With the clock ticking, the team worked urgently to find her a foster and secure the support needed to pull her from the shelter before it was too late.

Once safe, Susanna needed basic vetting care, including vaccinations, spaying, and follow-up appointments. Her intake notes had flagged that she was favoring her left front leg, limping and holding it up, suspected to be a soft tissue injury that was treated with pain management medication. Follow-up exams showed her walking normally, though her care team knew the stress of a shelter environment can sometimes mask injuries that only become apparent once a dog has fully decompressed, so they continued to monitor her leg closely. Alongside her medical needs, she also needed food, comfort items, and treats, small comforts meant to give her a taste of the love she had likely never received before.

Susanna settled beautifully into her foster home, continuing to be treated for her respiratory infection, and it wasn't long before the perfect family came along, ready to give her the life she deserved. With a new name to match her new beginning, Daisy Duke made the road trip to Minnesota, where her forever family was anxiously waiting to meet her. Daisy Duke's new family has promised to give her the amazing life she deserves, and there's no doubt she'll fill their home with just as much wiggling and joy as she did during her care. There were tears as her foster family said goodbye, the bittersweet reality of fostering that comes with knowing every goodbye makes room to save another life.
