Imagine 18,000 lbs of food, ALMOST 900 VACCINES, and more than 1400 pets and the people who love them out for a day of pet family care in Dallas...

That was the DFW Pets Are Family event, held on March 18th in south Dallas!

The first of four events in 2023, the DFW Pets Are Family events provide free food, supplies, and services to pet families in need. Following several events in 2022, this year's events expand to Fort Worth, in addition to Dallas, and saw an astounding 177% increase in need.

DFW Pets Are Family events are made possible through public donations and are a key component to keeping pets out of shelters. Months of planning by 11 CUDDLY Community Programs partners, plus other local organizations, finally came to fruition and we couldn't be more pleased with the results.

"Surrender prevention is critical as it promotes love, health, and safety for both humans and pets in the home, and maximizes lifesaving in the shelter; these events do that in a really impactful way," said MeLissa Webber, Director of Dallas Animal Services, a key partner of SNN's.  By vaccinating more pets, we make it less likely these cats and dogs will end up surrendered to DAS as a result of illness or the cost of veterinary care. And the 163 animals who recieved microchips are now FAR more likely to be reunited with their families if they ever go missing. Both of these things not only help keep pets with the people they love, but help prevent unnecessary euthanasia as a result of shelter crowding and illness.

Though the dust has settled from this first event, Spay Neuter Network and our partners are gearing up for the next! We'll be headed to Fort  Worth on June 3rd and look forward to doing even more to support pets and their people. Our event runs primarily on donations so if you feel compelled to help, please do. For just $25 you can ensure a cat or dog is fully vaccinated and for $45 they will be vaccinated and microchipped.
